What is the best way to attach a button?
We think it is important to attach a button in two stages, read below to find out what they are.
The Button Itself
Pink believes that buttons matter, and so does the way they’re attached. We have chosen to use mother of pearl buttons, which have each been individually polished to remove any black spots that may be on their underside.
How we attach the button
But simply stitching the buttons is not enough for Pink, and what we expect from the endurance of our shirts. Instead, we use a double procedure to fasten every button on Pink shirts. First, Pink buttons are lock-stitched to the shirt. Then, in a separate procedure, these stitches are whipped and heat-sealed firmly in place.
This heat-sealing holds the button secure. You’ve got better things to worry about than if your button is going to fall off. Pink’s buttons are so firm, they should stay in place for the whole life-span of the Pink shirt.
Heat-sealing buttons is another invisible act from Pink that pushes the traditions of shirtmaking forward. To the naked eye, there’s no difference. Yet the heat-sealed whipping gives a strength to the buttons above and beyond most other shirts.
Why Mother of Pearl Buttons?
We chose mother or pearl buttons for their clarity and beauty. Once they are attached to our shirts, they have another effect. On shirts of deep colour or pattern, they provide a contrast that creates an even richer density of shade. Pink’s colour shirts are yarn dyed, which means the colour is saturated in every single yarn before it is woven. It creates a deep intensity, perfect for the plays with colour and contrast that comes so naturally at Pink.
